Just as we were anticipating the the arrival of the 5800 Xpress Music in December, here comes news that the phone might be coming in January after all. The good news is that, contrary to what is being quoted in Europe, the phone will be priced at a realistic Rs 21, 839 which is much more closer to the price Nokia announced it at.
The 5800, also known as the ‘Tube’ during its developmental phase is Nokia’s first S60 touch device which boasts of features like a 8GB memory, exceptionally powerful stereo loudspeakers, a 3.2 megapixel camera, an accelerometer and GPS. I personally do not mind the delay because I’d like Nokia to get it right the first time with it, I’d hate to get my hands on a buggy phone which is made stable later via a firmware upgrade. This postponement of the launch window will possibly mean that we should have the 5800 in ship shape.
Another thing worth looking forward to is the upcoming Nokia India Music Store. The store which is part of the Ovi umbrella, promises to deliver over a million tracks from global hits to local artists. Nokia has tied up with international music companies like Universal Music Group, Sony BMG, EMI and Warner along with Indian labels such as T-series, Big Music, Yashraj. This should make for a interesting combo, specially with ‘Comes With Music’ handsets coming.
