I am not sure if you have seen this before, but this is surely one of the best N97 demoes floating around on the internet. The things to watchout for are the ability to slide and get rid of the widgets on the standby screen and the way the web browser automatically goes full screen once the page loads.

In the first part of the Movies on the go series here at ‘Mobonoid‘, we will be taking you through ways to convert and optimise movies for your Nseries devices. This tutorial is however valid for most newer Nokia S60 devices as well. Devices like the N96 not only support
There are quite a few methods of playing getting videos to play on the device, namely:
Converting the video into a .mp4 file and playing via the inbuilt Real Player. (H.264 encoding). The advantage of this is that you can get high quality video in a relatively smaller size.
The next option is using a software such as Smart Movie to first convert the video using its computer based application and playing it on the phone with its player. This is an option I won’t recommend because of the price and the work you need to do. There are other similar converters like Mobiola Video Studio also available.
The third is using Core Player. This is the easiest of them all. All you do is buy this application and install. After that you can throw virtually any file format at the phone and it will play them. Even movies that are found on torrents can be directly played using this amazing application.
However, if you do not want to be paying for an application then there is Nokia’s very own ‘Nokia Video Manager‘. It is extremely easy to use and Nokia even has a demo on how to use it. Plus it will convert videos to the optimum format automatically without you having to put in any settings. The only thing is that this is Windows only.
The limitation of the Nokia offering is that you cannot tinker with the output much, so if you have experience with encoding video or feel adventurous then load up a converter like Super on your computer and fire away. The following output settings generally work well with most devices.
Codec: MPEG-4 Part 10 AVC/H264 Baseline Profile
Container: .mp4
Resolution: QVGA 320×240
Aspect Ratio: 4:3 (1.3333)
Framerate: As per source but limit is 30
Bitrate: 600 kbps (The higher you set it, the higher the quality - but higher the size and too high can cause a dip in performance)
Audio: mpeg4aac, 96 kbps @ 44.1 KHz sample rate
