New v20 Firmware Now Available For The N96

new-n96-firmware-v20The Nokia N96 just just been blessed with a new firmware taking the current version up from v12 to v20.050. The new v20 brings in a lot of bug fixes and improvements including a speed boost. A remarkable addition is the standby email plugin which helps in showing your emails on the standby screen.

Audio Themes make an appearance, so does a menu to manage the slide. The battery management has been worked on, the camera has also been tweaked and the videos should now have lesser noise. All in all this looks like a major improvement. The v20 firmware is available over the air (OTA) as well as via the Nokia Software Updater (NSU). The N96 has user data preservation, so you can update without having to reinstall everything, however a backup never hurts. Full changelog below.

Nokia Introduces The E52

nokia-e52thumbnailThe E52 is the lastest addition to Nokia’s Eseries range of devices. The E52 is a t9 sucessor to the hugely popular E51. It also resembles the recently announced E55, the only major difference being in the keyboards the two devices back (T9 v/s Mini QWERTY). The device boasts of a 8 hour talk time, the new email UI from the Nokia E75, a 3.2 MP camera, noise cancellation and all of those Ovi Services. The Nokia E52 will ship with a 1GB microSD card and a free 60 day trial for Files on Ovi.

It’ll be available in two colours, metal grey and golden aluminium. The display has automatic landscape support and the device also sports a compass alongside Nokia Maps and A-GPS. Also present is USB charging, FP2 and a 3.5mm jack. The Nokia E52 is expected to start sales in the second half of 2009 at an estimated retail price, before taxes or subsidies, of EUR 245.
