Its barely been a month since the Nokia 5800 started shipping and Nokia has already shipped over a million pieces of its first S60 touchscreen. Staggering. If someone were to tell me that this was going to happen so soon a month back, I wouldn’t have believed him. This is even more surprising because the handset is not even on sale around the world yet, infact UK just got it yesterday.

Even when I was using a N96 or even the N85, there would be times when I missed the E71 – but not this time. The 5800 has pleasantly surprised me and the curious thing is that I am not even a big fan of touch based devices.

Nokia has just released another firmware update for the N78 in the form of v. 20.149.051.1. The new firmware packs a ton of bug fixes, an update to the preinstalled maps application along with UI speed and transition enhancements. A new theme called ‘Music’. also makes an appearance.
The new firmware is available over-the-air (OTA) by simply pressing *#0000# from the standby screen and checking for updates. The phone features user data preservation (UDP) so your data should be safe even after the update, however a backup never hurts.
