Tong Ren has just updated the accelerometer based application Flip Silent and the update brings compatibility with the Feature Pack 2 devices such as the N85, N79 and the N96 inaddition to devices such as the N95 and N82.

If you haven’t heard of it before, it is a utility specially useful when in a meeting or otherwise – A call comes in and you do not want to take it.  With it, you can flipover your phone to make it go into the silent profile and hang up the phone call or mute the ringer — without having to press a single key on the phone, just flip it over, your phone will be silenced. It is also useful in case of an alarm, a simply flip over can put the alarm into snooze or completely turn it off. Download link and video demonstration after the break.

Bluetooth is probably one of the most used functions for anyone, be it connecting a headset, sending a contact over, images, music, sync and I could go on. That being said, not a lot of us want to leave the bluetooth always turned on, some have battery concerns while the others are paranoid about viruses. (Note: The virus paranoia is just sheer hype, there is no substance. But this is a rant for another day.)

At the end of the day constantly opening and closing the bluetooth application for toggling bluetooth on/off is a major pain, something most of us can do without. This is where BT Switch steps in. It allows us to toggle the bluetooth with just one click and that’s all it does – no UI, nothing. When you click on it, the bluetooth gets activated and another click deactivates it!  For maximum ease of use I recommend assigning a soft key to it.
